Frequently Asked Questions

File Preparation

What file types should I send?

For optimal results, we recommend providing a print-ready PDF file with crops and bleeds.

Bleeds — What are they? Do I need to include them?

Bleeds are the extended areas of the artwork that surpass the crop lines, preventing any undesired white margins along the edges of the finished piece.

We advise including a minimum 1/8″ bleed on all sides of your artwork for ideal results.

Crops — What are they? Should my artwork have them?

In a nutshell, crop marks serve as indicators for where the artwork will be trimmed.

To ensure accurate cutting, please include crop marks on all artwork pieces.

What is resolution? What resolution should my artwork be?

The physical dot density of an image when it’s translated into a tangible form, such as a printed photo on paper, is measured in DPI (dots per square inch). Higher resolutions yield sharper and more detailed imagery.

For optimal results, we recommend a resolution of 300 DPI. However, for larger printed pieces like posters or banners, a minimum resolution of 150 DPI is suggested to maintain satisfactory quality.

Should I submit my full color artwork in RGB or CMYK? What's the difference?

To ensure accurate color reproduction, we kindly request that artwork be submitted in the CMYK.

While RGB is used by monitors and TV screens to generate colors through light, CMYK is employed by printers using pigments. By submitting artwork in CMYK, we can ensure that the printed output closely matches your desired colors and maintains consistency throughout the printing process.

Can you print Pantone colours? Can you elaborate on what they are?

Of course!

Pantones are an established color-matching system designed specifically for print. They offer a set of predefined colors that designers can utilize to ensure consistent and accurate color reproduction, regardless of the printing location. Think of it as selecting a specific paint color for your home, except with Pantones, the mixed ink will be an exact match every time.

While the Pantone printing process is typically more complicated than standard CMYK printing, we are here to address any further inquiries you may have. Please feel free to contact us for more information or clarification on this matter.

How should I impose my artwork?

Please submit single-page files for your print projects. We’ll handle the imposition process for you, ensuring proper arrangement and layout of the pages.

Can you print customized, personal, or variable data?

Sure can!

Whether you need to reach a targeted audience with personalized mailings or require sequential numbering for tracking purposes, our capabilities cater to these specific needs effectively.

Can I see a printed (hard copy) proof?

Absolutely!

When it comes to digital printing, we provide hard copy proofs that are identical to the final output. For offset and web printing, we offer Epson proofs that provide an approximate color match to the desired result. However, for large format printing projects, hard copy proofs are only provided under exceptional circumstances. Rest assured, we strive to ensure accurate color representation and maintain quality standards across all our printing processes.
